About Ryan
Ryan has Over 25 years of experience working within the sports and fitness industry. He has coached at both professional and amateur levels and worked as a strength conditioning coach with some of the countries top premier league clubs and players.
Ryan played professional Rugby League with Huddersfield Giants before a serious knee injury resulting in a full reconstruction preventing him from returning to the sport. At the same time, he was completing his final year degree studying Sport at the University of Leeds.
After his rehabilitation, Ryan began working as a Personal Trainer and after a couple of years this developed into working as a sports fitness consultant, spending over five seasons with some of the country’s leading professional football clubs. He was responsible for the day to day implementation of fitness and strength conditioning through pre-season and maintenance and rehabilitation throughout the season.
Ryan then began running a number of fitness clubs and during his time there he studied his PGCE, teaching qualification and with his football contacts began teaching young apprentice professionals A level Physical Education as part of their ongoing contract with the football club.
With Ryan’s contacts in Rugby League he returned to his hometown club and began managing the community development of Rugby League within Huddersfield. It was a very rewarding role and which lead to a number of coaching opportunities within the clubs player development pathway and within the RFL national youth player pathway working with some of the country’s leading regional and national talent. Within this time, Ryan was part of the coaching team to take the Huddersfield Giants Academy team on a tour of Australia, playing some of their country’s leading RL teams, including Manly and West Tigers.
This role continued to develop leading and developing an education department within the Huddersfield Giants and Huddersfield Town Community Foundation. From this experience, Ryan then moved onto a teaching full time within further education, teaching A level Physical Education and BTEC Sport Science and has been doing this for the past 10 years.
Ryan continued to develop his skills within Sport achieving Level 4 Sports Massage whilst he and his wife Samantha decided to set up a business, encompassing their individual skills set. Ryan, Sports Massage Rehabilitation and Personal Training and Samantha, a trained nurse, developed her skills in Aesthetics and Skin Care, forming McNeely Skin & Body.
Ryan has used his academic knowledge and professional sport experience and teaching expertise to create a productive and supportive rehabilitation environment, created to fill a clear gap in the industry to provide a professional, holistic approach to meet our clients injury rehabilitation and training needs.
